What's going on? Good People. Welcome back to the second installment of Behind Crankworks

0:05.9

podcast. Today is a bit more of a chilled day. We've got downhill practice pretty much going on all day.

0:12.9

And then in the evening, we've got speed and style finals. As usual, this episode is supported by

sacks underwear.com.

0:25.1

And if you're not rocking a pair of sacks in this sort of heat, then I feel sorry for you.

0:30.6

These things have been a lifesaver today, keeping the crown jewels funky fresh.

0:33.4

Okay, let's not hold these things up.

0:39.3

Without further ado, we're going to hand over to our very first guest of the day, Miss Via Vibik. Okay, we're here with the first guest of the day. You're going to have to help me the pronunciation.

0:45.3

It's Vaya.

0:46.3

Vaya Vibik.

0:47.3

Verbiq. Okay, cool. Where's the name from? Where do you...

0:51.3

Vaya is from Tahiti, French Polynesia. I was born there. I know how many people know that. My parents lived there for a couple years and my dad is Belgian, so Berwick is Belgian. Right. But I grew up in Quebec and live in Vancouver. Right. Okay, wow. Okay, so you speak perfect French? I do. Yeah. That's helpful out might say it's not real French, but hey. Okay. Yeah, something like that. All right, so coming into Lijé, you've had a pretty good season so far. Obviously, you won Rote Aura, downhill, second in the ADIH. Damn. Did you work? Yeah, you got it.

1:28.5

Seventh in Innsbruck.

1:45.3

Sorry, yeah, Innsbruck. Yeah. Yeah, there was an enduro in Rotorua as well. And then there was a crash, which ended it for me. What in the Enjuro? No, like, Enroarro started with the Enduro, then it was DH. and a bunch of other events, I forget now, like AirDH, I guess.

2:17.8

And in the last downhill, in practice, I broke my collarbone, so it ended for me there. Oh, really? But, yeah. How's the recovery from that being going? It's been good. Yeah. It's kind of like the very first time. I've had a lot of recoveries to do, a lot of injuries in my time. But for the first time, it wasn't stressing. It wasn't, like, so upsetting. I wasn't going to be, like, oh, I'm missing the first World Cup, and, oh, I have to get back into it really fast. I wasn't planning on attending the first World Cup. Right. Like, I'm only attending one World Cup this year anyway. So it just seemed a lot more relaxed and just, yeah, it was sweet. And then I got back on the bike, like, much later than what I usually would have done, but it felt so much stronger right away. So, yeah, it's been good. Sometimes a break is as good as, you know, not a break, like a collarbone break but but a break from riding is nice, right? Yeah. Yeah, recharged the batteries a little bit. The first time I just kind of understood that I had to embrace the fact that I was off the bike and I did instead of just being so bummed of not being racing. That's fair enough. You're sitting in third overall? I think so. Yeah. I'm still in there. I think so too.

2:55.6

Yeah, actually, what events have you done so far this week?

2:56.2

In Lejeet?

2:56.5

Yeah.

3:02.0

The first event was Dual Slalom, which, I don't know, that was Wednesday night,

3:05.3

and then it got way too dark, and there was way too many people participating,

3:07.6

so our finals is going to be moved to Saturday night but I think I qualified fifth top five that's sweet and then um yesterday

3:15.1

was a huge day I was on my bike at 8 a.m. for pump track practice and then rode downhill
