Today we'll hear from the left's leading sports journalist Dave Zyron

on Colin Kaepernick in the tradition of activist athletes

and then the data architect Wayne Monroe will deflate all the hype around artificial intelligence.

I'm not a sports fan, though fate played a little trick on me by giving me a son who is.

But I have no patience for people on the left who are contemptuous of sports

because they're a distraction from politics or because they're aggressive and competitive

and no model for any society to follow.

Nice way to dismiss something that gives great pleasure to billions.

And as my first guest Dave Zyron argues, aside from being great entertainment,

sports are very much embedded in our society and are therefore unavoidably political.

Zyron, the sports editor of the Nation magazine, is just out with a book.

The Kaepernick effect, taking a knee, changing the world, published by the new press.

It explores not only Colin Kaepernick's original gesture, which ignited quite the firestorm,

but the effect it had on athletes across the country,

not just professionals but in high schools and colleges as well.
