executed his mother even though they knew she was innocent, and then from Ruth Whitman on the mail

problem. I was tempted to say something about Trump's cabinet appointments, but I'm speechless.

What a gang of, I don't want to

say rogues because Rose can be charming, more like con artists, incompetence, lunatic scandals in the making.

As an NBC news headline put it, three of Trump's cabinet selections have faced allegations of

sexual misconduct. Those would be Gates, H Hegeseth, and Kennedy. Perhaps not surprising,

considering Trump himself, but the pounding reality of it all is exasperating. It's a perfect

illustration of the rod of the American ruling class. More of some other time.

The case of the Rosenbergs probably doesn't mean much to anyone under 40, but it was an obsession

of anti-communists and the left for decades.

Julius Rosenberg and Ethel Rosenberg, nay Ethel Greenglass, were executed by the U.S.

government in 1953 for spying for the USSR, specifically passing along secrets that sped up the

Soviet development of a hydrogen bomb. Several of those convicted as part of their conspiracy,

notably Ethel's brother, David Greenglass,

who traded testimony against the couple for a lighter sentence,

got prison rather than the electric chair.

Julius and Ethel met as members of the Young Communist League in 1936,

when she was 20 and he was 18.
