Welcome back everyone to the Epic Gardening Podcast. Today we have an awesome guest who

weirdly I met more I think on Twitter than on Instagram. Usually I meet my gardening

friends on Instagram. We have Roxanne A. Hernandez on the show today. She studied at the Southwest

Institute of Healing Arts and is a mother of five on a working homestead that includes

sheep, goats, chickens, guinea hens, ducks, sometimes cows, rabbits, pigs, dogs, cats,

and of course a garden. It's a lot of living entities and she also has a book coming out

called Holistic Homesteading. Great to have you on Roxanne.

It's great to be here, Kevin. I love your work over on Instagram and Twitter. So I'm a big

fan. So when I saw you start showing up a little bit more on Twitter, I was like,

yay. I was excited to see you over there more.

Yeah. I think I had, I mean, this is my personal Twitter and I think I just have,

sometimes I want to talk about things that aren't gardening. So I showed up over there

and it's been fun to chat. It's a totally different platform. But for those who don't know

you from Instagram or from Twitter, what's just, I know I just gave the brief synopsis,

but what sort of your focus and how did you come to be in the position you are where

you're running, like you said, a working homestead.

So yeah, I went to the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts and I, that I was studying

nutrition there and herbalism. And so those were already in my areas of interest. And

then when I became a mom, I became even more focused on the nutrition aspect of our lives

and just doing a lot of research about the food system and desiring healthier food for

my family. So, you know, we started producing it ourselves and we started raising animals.
