It can be hard to imagine a life beyond our fixed perception of what we deserve or what we’ve been given. Today, Dora shares how to broaden our perspective so we can achieve our goals.  Dora Kamau holds a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Psychiatric Nursing. She is a certified Mindfulness Meditation teacher and is working to complete her Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher training this fall. The question is, why do we self sabotage?

This is something I've been reflecting on lately as I continue to teach my MBSR course.

A student of mine had mentioned it during our class and it got me thinking about how

common this experience is.

If you're new to the idea of self sabotage, it's when we consciously or unconsciously

disrupt or hinder our success and well-being.

We can do this mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially, essentially destroying

an aspect of our lives.

But it's interesting because we know that we're striving for something or wanting to accomplish

something, but wherein lies the self sabotage that can arise along the way?

Maybe we believe we aren't deserving.

Maybe things seem too good to be true.

Or maybe we're approaching new moments with old fixed mindsets.

And I get it.

Low and behold, self sabotage is a survival mechanism.

Our brains are wired to avoid risk.

If we've been living in our comfort zone, going outside of that, signals the warning bells
