So 2014 was a big year for me. Do you ever have that just like a big year, like a

banner year? For me, it went like this. October 3rd, I lost my second pregnancy. And then

October 8th, my dad died of cancer. And then on November 25th, my husband Erin died

after three years with stage 4, Gleo Blastoma, which is just a fancy word for brain cancer.

And I had to give you a snippet from her very viral, very highly acclaimed TED Talk. Well,

this grief isn't the central topic of this episode. And we talk about plenty of lighthearted

and fun and nostalgic things as well. We more so go into her career and how her personal

experiences have kind of translated into her work and operating somewhat within a space

of grief. But she's also an incredible comedy writer and wrote the book Bad Moms, for example.

The thing people love about Nora and no most of you are well aware of her is kind of

was captured in that soundbite I played because the straightforward, and honest, and almost

abrupt nature in which she delivers the series of tragedy she's endured, I think is kind

of comparable to how tragic things are introduced into our lives. We're not coddled with like

any sort of expectation. And she approaches these inevitabilities in such a candidate

and engaging way, I think that reminds me that we shouldn't be so afraid to talk about

these things that they're just a fact of life and it's almost disproportionate how little

preparation you have when going through them to how much like tiptoeing around talking

about it exists. And that signature candor paired with the humor and a reverence and

self-awareness she injects into everything she does is what makes her just an absolutely

magical human. And I'm so, so honored and excited to have her on the podcast today. And
