I want to get started by talking about your college experience.

I understand you got your undergrad at BYU in Provo,

What did you major in?

Well, I came initially with, I was an interior design major at first and really yes I did that for two years and I actually

always wanted to be a therapist and get a PhD but I was afraid that that was too ambitious for a woman and I think things are different now at

BYU, but when I was growing up there was a lot more talk about women shouldn't work, women should be at home, that multiple

degrees is a waste of family resources.

So I was definitely in that frame. My parents weren't heavy-handed about any of that, but they also didn't have ambitions for me beyond getting married to a good Latter-day Saint. So I wanted that, but I felt that it was wrong that I wanted it.

So I interior design was also a real passion of mine.

I thought about like residential architecture and I just I still love all those things but mostly it was the safe route and then when I went on my mission to Spain I think a couple things happened for me. I saw a lot of families and women in particular in distress and I my desire to be able to be helpful to people grew.

And also my confidence in myself grew,

like just my confidence in myself and my relationship

with God and what was true for me felt emboldened a hundred percent confidence when I came back

but I felt like I could start taking steps
