Summary

It's fresh hop season and Alex sources four of the best fresh hop beers from the heart of hop country: the Pacific Northwest. Beers from Fremont Brewing, Crux Fermentation Project, Little Beast Brewing, and Gigantic Brewing Company will face off to see who's got the dankest offering this fresh hop season. In the Beer News, Alex recaps the NA winners at GABF, another twist is added to Ballast Point's long, complicated history, Fair State stops being a co-op, and Tree House Brewing Company launches their Barrel Reserve Society and membership sells out immediately.

Yeah, actually, I like that. With the brie, the texture, I do eat the rind because I talk about the taste of the rind all the time in my saison and lambic reviews. Yeah. Because they're like, oh, if you're making like a soup or a sauce or something,

0:37.9

throw the rind in for some extra, extra flavor.

0:40.9

It's like a bay leaf. Yeah. Throw it in there. I don't know what it does. Something. They tell me to throw it in there. I thought you're talking because it's like I went to a kid's birthday party this weekend and they put cantalope out and Sorn was like, what? They left the green part on. He was like, he was thought that some serious negligence was going on. I was like, Stephen is going to about to shame me about not eating the rind. Oh, typical Fresno palate, Alex. I had a rat at the shit at the birthday, dude. They're everywhere, Alex. It's like John Wick. Steve's like, you know when you eat, you know when you eat watermelon, the white part down to the green, and then you have a stomach ache the whole day? You know how like you get, you buy a watermelon and you bite into like an apple? And before you even get to the good stuff, you're like, oh, I don't feel so good.

1:29.7

Yeah, exactly.

1:31.9

I was prepared for that. Anyways, that's the right way.

1:33.3

Okay.

1:33.6

That's the correct way.

1:34.7

Correct way.

1:35.9

You eat all the riding around it, and then you save the red part for after you've earned it.

1:44.2

Yes, this is match 299, the Pacific Northwest Fresh Hop Stravaganza.

1:50.4

For brewers, the Pacific Northwest is where 75% of American hops are grown.

1:55.6

This is like Northern California's wine country, but for delicious rhizomes that power all of our hoppy beers.
