So, in October of 2023, I was a university student living somewhere abroad, temporarily based on the

Because of this, I relied on a popular housing and roommate platform that allows direct messages

between users. I responded to an advertisement offering a room

at a price well below market rate. The initial contact was with a man who claimed to be helping

an older woman rent space in her own home. Our conversation focused on my financial situation and

timeline, and shortly afterward, he gave me
