0:15.3	We've thought about some of them earlier on in the year.
0:18.2	For example, when we were talking about baptism, I think I mentioned the importance of
0:22.5	Jesus' own baptism, and today I want to think a bit more about his actual experience
0:28.1	on that day.
0:30.0	It was a very big moment.
0:32.2	In fact it was so important to him that when he looked forward to his passion, he described
0:36.7	it as a baptism.
0:37.7	I have a baptism to be baptized with, he said, and I feel hemmed in until it happens.
0:46.1	John the Baptist said something intriguing, even enigmatic about his ministry of baptizing.
0:53.1	He said the reason for it was so that the Messiah would be revealed.
0:57.3	As indeed he was when the Spirit came on the Lord Jesus in the form of a dove, and
1:02.4	he was identified as the servant king by the voice of God.
1:07.9	And so when Jesus appeared in the crowds waiting to be baptized, there was something about
1:13.5	him that gripped John.
1:16.3	We know he didn't want to baptize him.
1:19.5	He said it should be the other way round.
1:22.9	He wasn't worthy to untie Jesus' sandal.
1:27.3	But after the event, John the Baptist began to see what had happened.
1:32.8	The dove and the voice had identified Jesus as the Lamb of God.
1:37.0	Yes, he was spotless.
