Without a Cause, Charlie became obsessed with the actor. He started styling his hair like James

Dean and dressed like Dean's character in the movie. Charlie related to the character he saw on screen, the troubled,

rebellious teenager who couldn't stay out of trouble. Charlie believed the character was a kindred

spirit of sorts, someone who'd suffered from the same things that Charlie had. Maybe he was a

born loser and a no-good delinquent, but James Dean's character in the movie

wasn't the kind of kid that would go on to create the kind of horror story that Charlie would.
