Between 2011 and 2016, Dr.

Palo MacYereini was considered a pioneer in the field of tissue engineering.

He was one of the first doctors to implant a lab-grown organ, a trachea, into a patient, and he did it nearly

a dozen times.

But this miracle didn't last long, because it wasn't a miracle at all.

One by one, many of his patients suffered excruciating

pain and died. We spoke with a lot of people for the third season of the Dr Death

podcast, journalist Benita Alexander,

who was about to marry Dr. MacYoreini

when she started to unravel the lies in his personal life.

And ultimately, she played an important role in exposing him to the world.

And I think there was a tiny, tiny part of me that sort of fanciful, delusional, dreamy love part of me that was thinking maybe maybe just maybe

there's an explanation for all of this you kind of hang on to that little bit of

hope because it's so hard to wrap your head around the

reality that it's all a lie. We heard from the whistleblowers at Carolinska

Institute in Sweden who reported Dr MacYerini and instead face threat of disciplinary action themselves.

I am incredibly angry and frustrated and upset and completely disillusioned on there being any sort of justice whatsoever.

Now more than two years after the podcast came out showrunner Ashley Michael

Hoban has adapted the story into the second season of the Dr Death TV

series available for streaming exclusively on peacock.
