I'm Elvis Mitchell.

I'm sitting across from actor, close horse, author, stand-of-com comedian, and TV

creating producer Aziz Ansari. His new book, which I have sitting right next to me,

here is Modern Romance, his new series. Don't think of him as Tom Humberford anymore. He's not

that guy. He's not Randy. He's now deaf. His new show on Netflix is the terrific new show. I mean, just let's talk

about where that idea for the show came from. And just using the title, Master of None,

where's the title come from?

Titles are very hard. And this actually plays into a lot of the themes of the show about how

hard it is to make decisions sometimes.

And yeah, the title is very hard.

And Master of None was just a phrase that I thought sounded cool and actually applied to the themes of the show.

And so we used it.

I think it's interesting, too.

The show really starts, it's got an unusual kind of cold open where the

it seems like it's a cold open in fact but setting up story and generally cold opens do something

that don't relate to anything else that happens but there's a cold open that then they always pay off

at some point if not that episode and episodes that come talk about and then the credits are like old show

...
