South Caucasus, Azerbaijan. My travels in Azerbaijan were directed and much informed by the ambassador

to the United Kingdom, to Great Britain, Aliens Suleimanov, who is with me now. He's not in

his post in London. He's in Baku Azerbaijan, and we're here to remember two people who were very

important to us in our conversations together over the years about the South Caucasus. One,

the author Thomas Goltz, who's the author of several books, Revolatorie of the South Caucasus,

and the transformation of that part of the world following the exit of the Soviet Union.

And two, my long-time producer, Lee Mason, who introduced me to Thomas Goltz many years ago,

Thomas was an excellent source for matters of Asia Minor, for the South Caucasus,

and the conflict zones that have come up over the last 30 years since the Soviet Union ended.

I welcome the ambassador now. We come first to praise and remember Thomas Goltz.

October 1954 to July 2023, the author of Azerbaijan Diary. Mr. Ambassador, Aliens, it's wonderful

to welcome you. You traveled with Thomas Goltz, and you were travels to find the conflict zone

between Azerbaijan and the and the rump of parts of the Soviet state, now Russian Federation.

That would be Armenia. What did you and Thomas get up to? What were your adventures, Mr. Ambassador?
