Summary

This week on the Active Self Protection Podcast we sit down with self defender Esther and discuss the night she had to make a late night store run and how she saw suspicious activity and avoided becoming a victim. Active Self Protection exists to help good, sane, sober, moral, prudent people in all walks of life to more effectively protect themselves and their loved ones from criminal violence. On the ASP Podcast you will hear the true stories of life or death self defense encounters from the men and women that lived them. If you are interested in the Second Amendment, self defense and defensive firearms use, martial arts or the use of less lethal tools used in the real world to defend life and family, you will find this show riveting.  Join host and career federal agent Mike Willever as he talks to real life survivors and hear their stories in depth. You'll hear about these incidents and the self defenders from well before the encounter occurred on through the legal and emotional aftermath. Music: bensound.com

We're deep into this.

With me today, a new friend of mine.

Her name is Esther. She is in a

town, I'll call it west of Seattle, Washington. So she is just outside of the cone of insanity that is

the C-TAC Metroplex. And she works in senior care. Esther, how are you? I'm doing great. It's very

0:36.7

nice to meet you. So she reached out with a story of an encounter and it was very similar to one that I had. So you get to hear a story from her and me today. So that's a bonus. And we're not going to charge you any extra for it. So two and one deal. Exactly. So you mentioned during our very brief pre-interview. And can you confirm that we don't discuss the incident in depth prior to this interview?

0:57.1

Correct.

0:57.8

Okay, good.

0:58.7

I'm not sure if people believe me sometimes, but we did discuss her incident, and I told her very briefly about something happened to me that was very similar.

1:07.3

So that should be of interest.

1:09.6

And you said that you have relatives

1:11.7

that turned you on to the podcast. You'd not heard of it, but someone else told you about it.

1:15.5

Correct. Yes. My brother, brother-in-law, they're very much self-protection aware. And they

1:21.8

turned, turned me on to it. And I've been binging it since. So you've listened to every episode.

1:27.4

Yeah. So you got to see the progression from the early days when it was a little rough. Yeah. And I stayed here. It's right. Well, you stuck it out and I appreciate that. And it's funny because we, when John and I talked about doing a podcast, I told them, I really want to get this as soon as possible, get it to a level of production that I'll be proud of it, you know, when people go back to the catalog, which you're the first person that said you've done that. So it's cool that you get to see that progression. Hopefully it isn't too, wasn't too much of a leap from the first episode. I know everybody's got to start somewhere, so, you know.

2:01.2

Right.

2:01.7

So you said you have a brother and brother-in-law who are self-defense-minded.

2:05.3

So before the incident we're going to discuss, were you sort of a self-aware, aware of your
