You need to ask them, 'Are you in the headspace right now to receive advice, or do you still just need to tell me what is going on, and do you just need support at this point in time?' When I've found them to be in a space where they are willing to receive and act upon advice, I do it in a very, very gentle way. I just say, 'Look, when you step out because I know you're just stuck in it and it might be harder to see the big picture and how it's effective, but this is not serving you.
