0:07.0	Welcome to our August Reflections and Corrections episode. Let's start with the
0:17.3	Reflections. We just finished our 29th book of the Bible and we're currently
0:21.1	working our way through two others.
0:23.0	So let's get the 30,000 foot view on where we are in the chronological timeline of the Bible's overall
0:28.2	meta-narrative.
0:29.2	The Bible is one unified story.
0:32.0	Way back in Genesis, God set out to build a relationship
0:34.6	with one particular family,
0:36.2	but things go terribly wrong
0:37.6	when they fracture the relationship through sin.
0:40.0	But their sin doesn't surprise God.
0:41.8	He already had a plan in place to restore this relationship even before it was broken.
0:46.1	And he continues working out that plan immediately, undeterred and unhindered by their rebellion.
0:51.7	He sets apart a man named Abraham to be the patriarch of the
0:54.4	family God calls the Israelites. They're a bunch of sinners just like all of us.
0:58.0	God blesses them despite their sin, but sin still has its consequences.
1:02.4	One of the long storylines of consequence is of the
1:05.4	400 years they spent enslaved in Egypt. God sends a man named Moses to demonstrate his power
1:11.0	to the Egyptian ruler, who reluctantly agrees to let the Israelite slaves go.
1:15.6	They flee to the desert, led by God and his servant Moses, and then little by little, God gives these people
1:20.8	the basic rules of how to have a stable society.
