Summary

Today voters in Ohio decide the fate of Issue 1, an amendment that would make it significantly harder to alter the state’s constitution. But the stakes are broader: If passed, it would immediately jeopardize efforts to enshrine abortion rights into state law. Plus, Donald Trump’s legal team is arguing that a protective order proposed by DOJ special counsel Jack Smith would be an infringement on Trump’s free speech rights. Playbook co-author Eugene Daniels talks with campaigns reporter Madison Fernandez about the implications of the Ohio special election.

driving the day. Former President Donald Trump's legal team says that a protective order that was

proposed by Special Counsel Jack Smith would infringe on Trump's right to free speech. That's the

1:29.4

for the first time in 100 years voters in Ohio are headed to the ballot today to vote on one

1:35.5

measure and one measure only, issue one. At the heart of it, it is about whether or not it should

1:41.3

be harder to change the Ohio State Constitution. If issue one did

1:46.0

pass, any new constitutional amendments would require 60% of approval from voters instead of a

1:52.0

simple majority. It would also increase the signature threshold for citizens to get an amendment

1:57.0

on the ballot in the first place. Ostensibly, this is about the Constitution.
