Hi friends, I am Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four

0:06.3

books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories

0:10.4

of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the

0:15.7

miracles. Each month this year we have gotten to read all four books. We read all four of

0:20.4

them in 30 days and we are doing it again, working our way through Matthew, Mark, and

0:24.8

all the way through Luke. Next we'll be John. So make sure you're subscribed so you don't

0:28.6

miss any of the days coming up. Here's how it works. I'll read three chapters to you today.

0:33.0

You can listen or read along in your own Bible and then I'll pray and that's it. So today

0:37.5

is August 22nd day 22 and I'll be reading Luke chapters 19 through 21. And this month I'm

0:43.9

0:57.5

to see Jesus, but the crowd was in his way. He was a short man and couldn't see over

1:01.4

the crowd. So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sicklemore tree so he could see Jesus

1:05.8

when he came by. When Jesus got to the tree, he looked up and said, Zacchaeus, hurry down.

1:11.4

Today is my day to be a guest in your home. Zacchaeus scrambled out of the tree, hardly believing

1:16.6

his good luck, delighted to take Jesus home with him. Everyone who saw the incident was indignant

1:21.5

and grumped, what business does he have getting cozy with this crook? Zacchaeus just stood

1:26.5

there, a little stunned. He stammered apologetically. Master, I give away half my income to the

1:32.4

poor. And if I'm caught cheating, I pay four times the damages. Jesus said, today is salvation day

1:38.8

in this home. Here he is, Zacchaeus, son of Abraham, for the son of man came to find and restore

1:44.3

the lost. While he had their attention and because they were getting close to Jerusalem by this time

1:49.7

and expectation was building, the God's kingdom would appear any minute. He told this story.
