Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook co-author Rachel Bade. It's Wednesday, August 21st,

and we are reporting from the CNN Politico Grill at the United Center in Chicago

right after the formal events have wrapped. First gentleman, Doug Emoff, gave a speech

that showed off his nerdy sentimental

side and included some very sentimental moments from his courtship with Kamala Harris, including

keeping the first voicemail that he sent her or left her and her were playing it for him

over and over again, which by the way is adorable. And of course, the Obamas really blew the lid off the United Center in their back-to-back

speeches, joining me to get you caught up on what happened last night.

And what is coming today from the DNC is CNN's political director, David Chalien.

So, David, I admit I had a plan for the podcast this morning.

I wanted to sort of focus on the Harris campaign's attempt to sort of expand the tent,

to reach out to Republicans.

Stephanie Grisham spoke last night.

And Adam Kinzinger is going to be talking later this week.

Instead, I sort of totally tore that up just now.

After watching the Obama's from the bar in the CNN political grill, it sounds like you were actually in the arena.

I was.

I was in our CNN booth helping produce our coverage and listening to all the speeches there tonight.

So we have to focus on that because, my God, what a pair of orders, the two of them are.
