Hello and welcome to today's independent travel podcast. It's Tuesday the 19th of August,

and we're just getting to the point where Britain's airports will be at their absolute busiest.

But what time of day is it missed to get a flight? That is the question that has been exercising

the Independence Travel Desk. My personal view is that you can

really do with a flight about 6 o'clock in the morning. That gives you the best possible start

getting away on your travels or at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. So you've got most of the day

and yet you can still arrive somewhere in Europe in time

four dinn. Well, my excellent colleague, senior travel writer Natalie Wilson, believes,

if I can paraphrase, that's a load of rubbish. Natalie, what timed flight would you want to be

catching? So I think it definitely depends on the trip you're taking, but we do disagree on this.

And for a week-long trip, I think in an ideal world, 11am you're taking off, because that's

plenty of time, perfect public transport. It's open, it's running, you can get to the airport,

and then say it's what, a three-hour trip to somewhere in Europe, you Europe you're landing probably in time to check in you don't have to wait around with your

bags I think for comfort that's an ideal except that time is precious as you will know and

surely people will want to make the absolute most of their trip. I've been speaking, for example,

to Gilly and Glenda. There are a couple of teachers from the West Midlands, and they think that

actually the time to get there is the earliest possible flight outbound and the latest one

coming back. Early flights out and laid plates back.

So you get the full benefit of the whole day and you don't waste a day.

Too many flights.

You can get there early evening and you don't get the benefit but costs you just to sim, if not more.

Yeah, completely agree.
