Good morning, everyone. I'm Playbook co-author, Ryan Lizza. It's Friday, August 16th,

and here's what's driving the day. Kamala Harris will deliver her first big policy speech

today at 245 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The speech offers her a chance to more clearly define herself

and perhaps distinguish herself from her boss. Today also happens to be the two-year anniversary

of the Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden administration's signature achievement that Harris

helped push through Congress by casting that tie-breaking vote in the Senate.

President Biden is out this morning with a statement noting the anniversary and celebrating

what he calls historic legislation.

We'll be listening closely today to see if Harris also mentions that anniversary, or whether

she tries to separate herself in any meaningful way

from the president and his policies. At the White House yesterday, a reporter asked Biden

how much it bothered him that Harris might soon, for political reasons, start to distance

herself from your economic plan. Biden shot back she's not going to. And don't miss this week's
