I was wondering here, before we started the show, whether Skype hates anybody because our guest, Micah Hanks,

was telling us that he was having a problem getting a Skype connection.

Well, I'm thinking it this way.

It's going through multiple generations of reality.

Yeah. Yeah, that's true. It's like

the movie, Arival, where this woman plays a linguist and she learns at E.T. communicates

across time. Remember that? Yeah, it was a fascinating concept that they presented in that film, you know, which

really kind of stretches the mind and the sense of what would contact be like.

And I have to say, we often are so fixated on what extraterrestrials or any other kind of

intelligence we might encounter, whether they are, you know, flesh and blood entities or something else. We often fix it, I think, in science fiction on what they would

look like. But that film took it to a different level with enhancing, I think, the whole

concept through linguistic ideas in terms of how would our minds respond to learning an alien language. In other words,

having to essentially learn to think to an extent how another form of intelligence thinks and
