Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook co-author Eugene Daniels. It is Tuesday, August 13th. Here is what's

driving the day. The FBI has confirmed that it is investigating an alleged hacking of

former President Donald Trump's campaign, and a probe that reportedly

also includes attempts to gain access to email accounts of officials in the former presidential

campaign of Joe Biden and his then-rennate Vice President Kamala Harris.

An FBI spokesperson acknowledged their involvement in the investigation, but declined to

elaborate on any suspects or really the scope of the investigation. A person familiar with the

Trump campaign's response to the incident confirmed Monday that a senior Trump official had their

personal email account compromised in June

and would likely also have had access to opposition research on J.D. Vance, his running mate.

Also, former President Trump participated in a spaces conversation on X, formerly known as Twitter, with Elon Musk.

As it did with Ronda Santis, as you might remember, it took a long time for it actually to work, about 45 minutes.

When the interview finally got started, about one million people tuned in to the live stream.

Former President Trump and Musk discussed his

assassination attempt. He attacked both President Joe Biden and eventually Vice President Kamala Harris,

the now Democratic nominee. The quote-unquote interview was pretty unstructured. Trump hit

all the hits in immigration, crime, a little bit of inflation. He attacked Fauci,

engaged in election denialism, and then eventually got to attacks on Vice President Harris. For weeks,

Republicans have been publicly and privately begging the former president to stick to policy

and, more importantly, figure out a way to sustain policy attacks on Vice President Harris, his new opponent.

There wasn't much of that in this back and forth, but probably enough for the campaign to say that he did it.
