August 3rd, 2021. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines at the day. Number one, why Cory Bush's protest on the eviction moratorium expiring matters. Number two, the latest on infrastructure. And number three, appropriation bills are alive and are starting to get

worked on. All right, Jake, let's move to the number one story of the day.

Cory Bush has been protesting outside the Capitol since the House went out of session.

Democrats went home and the eviction moratorium has been expiring. There's been a fight

going on between Democrats and the White House kind of ping ponging back and forth over who

should act, who needs to act, when they need to act. But really the interesting thing to me is

this freshman Democrat has put such a fine point on the issue when typically members go home, things expire,

and kind of business goes on as usual.

Yeah, that's right.

I mean, this is a good example, Anna, of the new generation of power here, right?

We've seen, we typically think of power in the sense of, uh, who has it in the building,

but, but Cory Bush has created kind of the spontaneous movement outside of the capital,

with people showing up and, and activists, um, uh, um, you know, lining up to see her. And frankly, it's a, it's a big deal. And so basically,

let's talk about the substance for a second. The substance is actually quite, is quite important.

So she's asking for the Biden administration to extend the eviction moratorium.

The Biden administration does not believe it can't extend the eviction moratorium.

And the leadership of her party in the House and the Senate do not believe they have the votes on Capitol Hill to extend the eviction moratorium.
