Summary

by Heather Robertson This is my first audio blog! It's no secret that I'm not crazy about writing (just ask my husband). But I love to talk! :) So, I decided this would be a great way for me to share more content with you, but in a format I'm comfortable with. In this post, I reflect on how much I've changed since I've gained control over my binge eating. I also talk about how you can gain control if you're struggling with binge eating too. So, after you listen, please leave a comment and let me know what you think. Would you like to hear more  audio blogs?

Hi, this is Heather and thank you for coming by the HalfSize Me site. This is my very first

0:06.5

audio blog entry. I decided that since writing is not my favorite thing to do, and since so many

0:12.7

of you love listening to the podcast, that doing some audio blogs would be a great way to get some

0:17.7

additional messages out to you during the week. So this is our very first one.

This one is I've come a long way baby, binge eating revisited. So I've made it no secret that

0:28.8

binge eating was the one thing that really helped me back from achieving my weight loss

0:32.4

goals in the majority of my life. It was the saddest thing for me when I reflected back on it to realize that I was

0:39.0

my worst enemy. I would spend most of my time extreme dieting and then just after a few hours or a few

0:45.3

days I would give in to binge eating and I never really could get very far on my weight loss goals.

0:50.8

I found my binge eating would run out of control once I had something sweet crossed my lips.

0:55.5

I would then spend the rest of the day eating anything sweet that wasn't nailed down or staple down.

1:00.8

I would raid my house or go to the store and load up on donuts, candy, anything sweet that

1:05.6

tickled my fancy, and I would go to my car and just shovel it in as fast as I could.

1:12.6

In many ways, when I reflect back on my past, I see that part of my life as me being kind of like a junkie. I had my fix,

1:18.3

and I would have to hide the evidence. I would sneak the wrappers into my house and my purse

1:22.5

or drive by a dumpster behind a store, and I would get rid of all the wrappers there.

1:27.5

There was some times when I was a substitute teacher and the teacher I was filling in for

1:31.8

would leave candy for their students. I would wait until the kids were gone and down as much as I could.

1:37.5

I realized this wasn't really healthy or normal behavior, but I couldn't control myself.

1:42.6

If another teacher had come in, I really don't know what I would

1:45.4

have done or said. And I think sometimes for me, the idea of getting caught made it that much

1:50.8

more exciting the entire process. When I finally got honest with myself and realized that I had a real
