podcast I work on. I'm Dan Clark and I commissioned factual podcasts at the BBC.

It's a massive area but I'd sum it up as stories to help us make sense of the forces shaping the world.

Jimmy White was and still is a household name, a People's champion in an era of snooker that saw its top player

superstars but its favourite sons mega stars and the whirlwind was definitely that.

Jimmy White, however, is more than a whirlwind to me.

He's a mate.

I spend about 40 days a year with him presenting snooker.

So when we needed to find a sofa there was no point going back to mine or as he put it,

A you made! Terrible accent. So after work we simply sat on the sofa in the studio that we sit on together all the time.

We waited for everyone to leave and we had a chat.

Now Jimmy has broken a few laws in his time and he's aware how foolish some of those things were.

There's no condoning in this episode from me and certainly not from him either for

that matter. But this is his story and as you would imagine with that home I try and avoid most of

the ones he's told before so no tales of all those World Championship finals but

hopefully instead a real insight into the character of the man himself.
