Amateur Traveler episode 417. Today the amateur traveler talks about the

Great Plains, railroads, and a winter festival that celebrates fur trappers as we go

to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I know that I should be heading home, but maybe not, maybe not today. Welcome to the Amateur Traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Before we get

into this week's episode, I do have two news stories for you. If like me

who've ever been boarding an airplane and thought certainly this can be done more

efficiently you may be right the standard time that it takes to board a

173 passenger jet according to a new study is 24 minutes and 48 seconds if you board

completely at random you can cut that time down to 17 minutes and 25 seconds if you

board the outside to the inside you can cut another three and the

way to the inside you can cut another three minutes off and the fastest way to board is apparently the way

Southwest does it.

And they can board in just over 14 minutes,

10 minutes faster than the standard.

Speaking of standards, standards are changing on the Spanish island of Mayorca.

They're getting a little tired of people wearing their teeny-weeny bikinis off of the beach and into the city and they're

going to start issuing fines.
