387. Today the Amateur Traveler talks about rugged mountains, friendly shopkeepers

and heaps and heaps of history as we go to Macedonia.

I know that I should be heading home.

Before we get into this week's episode, I do have two news stories for you, plus a bonus.

It was just Friday the 13th and people were flying

even though some people might be too afraid to fly on a superstitious holiday like

that. Probably the people who were the least superstitious were

those who boarded flight 666 to hell on Friday and that is H.E.L which is the

call sign for Helsinki. There's an interview in the UK's guardian about the pilot of that flight.

In the second news story, it's quite common and often recommended that people have an open-door

policy at work. That doesn't work as well when your airline pilot. A Southwest flight took off with one of the doors open.

It was a baggage door and after they took off an alarm went off, I'm going to suggest they changed that alarm to work while the plane is still on the ground.
