Amateur Traveler episode 340. Today the amateur traveler let's get small. We're going to go to four

Before we get into this week's interview I do have three news stories for you.

In the first one in case you thought you had problems with your luggage,

100 suitcases that went through Heathrow Airport.

Terminal 5 had problems because a pipe burst and apparently

they were covered in sewage.

Now that's a bad situation but obviously unusual.

The thing about the story that I found disturbing was apparently that some people suggested

the leak maybe because the terminal was built on a former

sludge works. In more update news about air travel, a 83 year old flight

attendant just retired after a 63-year career with the United Airlines.

The flight attendant, Ron O'Connor, was one of the first men who was hired to be at that time a flight steward.

He didn't even know what that position meant, but he knew that it would

get him a chance to get to the mainland, which was rare in those days because when he started

his career, Harry Truman was president, and Hawaii was not a state and wouldn't be one for a decade.
