Today the Amateur Traveler talks about trekking, the Dogon people, and the Bande Agara

escarpment as we go to Mali. I got the city one more cafe.

I know that I should be heading home, but maybe not, maybe not

to the amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Before we get into

today's interview I do have three news stories for you. I'm going to guess

that if somebody walks up to you on the street and offers to sell you the London Ritz Hotel, you would probably say no.

Apparently not everyone would as a con man was just jailed for five years for trying to sell the hotel for 250 million pounds.

There have been some complaints obviously about airlines recently who are having trouble making

ends meet.

Well, Continental is trying a new thing in Houston, they're doing self-boarding,

where instead of lining up and giving your boarding pass to someone at the gate, you just

will do it yourself and check in. That's fine, but when it comes to flying the

plane, I want a professional. And then speaking of airlines, I'm thinking American

Airlines might have made a mistake when they lost the bags of Danielle Kovarubius, because she was not too happy when they would not

because she was not too happy when they lost her bags

and then in addition to having to worry about the replacement cost,

they would not refund her money for the $25 they charged her to accept her bags, and so she is suing in a class action

lawsuit for $5 million.
