This is Nick. This is Jack. It's Tuesday, T-Boy, Tuesday, June 9th. And today's pod, it's the best one. Yeah, this is a T-boy. The top three pop business news stories you need to know today. All right, we just got to say there is no better feeling than the 48 hours after a live show. It takes 48 hours just to get off the energy jack. I know. I had a massive journey

0:22.1

from Los Angeles back to Vermont. It took like 13 hours. But I was basking in the glory of love

0:28.5

and excitement and intimacy and just, it felt like a party, the whole LA live show. Yeah,

0:34.5

we just got to share this with you. I mean, one of our fans came to the show. She drew us a drawing of the podcast. We got to bring it home after we met her after the show. We had an amazing after party, but Nick and I didn't realize the underage people aren't going to be allowed into the after party. Yeah, right. There was a line of like 20 families, and Nick and I did an amazing meet and greet before entering the bar where we celebrated with the rest of the crowd. Then we ran into a Yeti on the flight back to San Francisco. Just thank you, Los Angeles, for coming out. We cannot wait for the next one. Look, Nick and I record their show with no audience. When we finally get to meet you, it is just an epic treat for Nick and me. And we get to see the audience meet each other, which is extra epic. So Jack, three fantastic stories for today's team boy.

1:13.6

What do we got on the pod?

1:14.6

For our first story, Apple's worldwide developers conference started yesterday,

1:18.7

and it's got that weird theme.

1:20.4

We're calling the SOS, Save Our Siri.

1:23.9

For our second story, SpaceX is going public on Friday,

1:26.9

but the biggest deal in space right now is fashion.

1:29.8

Because NASA just partnered with Prada?

1:32.7

And our third and final story is the Carolina Hurricanes.

1:35.8

They're in the Stanley Cup finals thanks to one surprising person.

1:38.7

Get this, he's a scientist who rejected a job offer from Apple to work in hockey instead.

1:45.0

But Yetis, before we hit that wonderful mix of stories.

1:47.0

My career pivot. Jack, love the mix. No one else is doing that mix.

1:51.0

Self-driving cars, self-driving food delivery robots, self-driving taxis...

1:55.0

I'm sorry, Jack. What about self-driving Doritos?

1:59.0

Because self-driving tractor trailers have officially hit the highways in America.

2:03.9

That's right, and the first power user is actually Pepsi. The Wall Street Journal profiled Pepsi's

2:09.1

41 self-driving cars that have bought from Gallic that are on the road today. There are Suzu trucks,

2:14.4

but no driver, baby. Just 26,000 pounds of snacks and sodas going 60 miles per hour. They never eclipse the speed limit, by the way. Now to sprinkle on some context, Pepsi's robo-haulers have secretly been driving through Arizona, Texas, and Arkansas the last few months. And it's the first company to publicly come out as using self-driving delivery trucks. Yeah, and these Frito-Lays fleet, they got a 99% on time rate. Because they don't take bathroom breaks, they don't have any sick days, and they don't take snack breaks either. But we know what you're thinking. What happens if something goes wrong, one of these giant robot trucks? Well, it's kind of the perfect thing to test out self-driving tractor trailers, because first of all, if it crashes, everyone gets free food that spills out of the back. And if it gets lost Jack, Pepsi and Doritos never really expire in the first place. Plus, the bags have built-in protection, airbags. Exactly, as in half that bag of Lays potato chips is just air. And bottles of Pepsi? That's another like built-in padding situation to ease any collisions.
