You guys, so I was getting ready for work this morning for the show to start,

and East Mobile, and my history app popped up and said,

on this day, the roller coaster was patented, 1898.

Now, I don't know about y'all, but roller coasters,

to be a roller coaster has to be really well built and well maintained for me to feel super good about riding it.

Why do I feel like the roller coasters of 1898 might have been a little bit sketchy?

So I decided that I would dive into it.

And I discovered that the very first roller coaster in America opened before that and only

went six miles an hour. It was on Coney Island. Now, compare that to some of the crazy roller coasters

we have now that go 75 miles an hour with multiple inversions. And you know, you hang upside down.

And at one point, they try to set you on fire.

You know, there's like so many crazy things.

The very first roller coaster America on Coney Island went six miles an hour and it was invented just a couple of years after the hot dog was invented.
