Welcome back to the shared practices podcast. I have with me the King of the Ask George section of the show, the segment, George himself. George Roree. How's it going, man?

0:13.7

This is one of my favorite things to do. So I love just kind of picking a topic and just diving in and showing it from different perspectives. And this particular

0:21.3

episode, we're going to be talking about startup versus acquisition. And I just want to start by saying

0:26.3

that we have a saying internally, strong opinions loosely held. And if anyone's kind of long time

0:31.9

shared practices listeners, know that acquisitions have just been like something that I am so

0:36.8

deeply passionate about.

0:38.4

And in my career, I've been involved in 37 offices, 36 startups and one acquisition.

1:18.1

And it's actually proven to be true.

1:19.9

And now as we've continued to grow the DSO, we continue to want to go with startups.

1:26.1

And so I think I just have a really unique

1:28.1

perspective as somebody who has believed firmly in both sides. And I actually don't think it's one or the

1:34.3

other. I think it's for the right situation. One makes sense sometimes more than others. And

1:38.8

sometimes there's a combination of both even. So I just think that this will definitely be a

1:43.8

great discussion to help

1:44.9

anybody aside between startup and acquisition or even understanding where one makes more sense than

1:49.6

the other. And ironically, just to like immediately make the episode more complex than it needs
