Dr. Kim segment where people submit their questions for Dr. Kim Kim, and he answers them. Thanks for

listening. So today we're doing an Asked Dr. Tom's segment on the Awesome Marriage podcast. The

question that we got was, we struggle with jealousy in our marriage.

We get secretly jealous about the other ones, talents and skills and when they are recognized

and good things happen to them. I know it's terrible to be jealous of my spouse instead

of happy for them, but what can I do to overcome it? So kind of an interesting scenario here,

but I definitely feel like this person is not alone when

it comes to this. I think it's more common than this listener probably thinks. So Dr. Kim,

what would you say about this? Do you think it's a common issue? Is this something that you

see in the counseling room amongst couples that are struggling? No, it's interesting. I think it is

fairly common. I don't think people talk about it very much. Yes. I think it's one of those secret

things. And now, is it going to affect your marriage? Just because you don't say it absolutely,

because it's going to put distance. It can affect the way you look at each other. You're not going to

be as nurturing, caring, all those kind of things. But, you know, and maybe, you know, we talked before we came on the air about just that is our

culture to end of that, you know, and the competitiveness of culture.

What gets into that where when our spouse is successful in something or a spouse achieves

something or does well at something that we can't rejoice in that and celebrate with them?

And, you know, I think it's the individual mindset that we get in culture of individuals instead of, you know, and Nancy are really a team.

And so if she gets accolades in her business or something, I am so proud of her.

I'm, you know, she'll bring home a plaque that she got for doing something else.

And she just kind of tosses on her desk.
