Today is an Ask Dr. Kim segment, and we're going to be talking about how do I love my spouse

through depression when it's been going on for years. I feel like this

would be just such a hard place to be. And honestly, we hear this a ton of awesome marriage. And I just

see this a ton in my personal life of people having depression and it going on for years and years.

And it's kind of like, oh, I can help you cope at first. But then once it's prolonged, it's like, man, what do you do in your marriage?

So, Dr. Kim, how can someone love their spouse through depression?

No, I think you're exactly right.

I think there's different kinds of depression.

We know that there is stuff that comes with circumstances that probably all of us go through

at some time or another if somebody dies or something happens, you know, and we can just get

pressed for a period of time. But that chronic, I remember a family, and they had been married probably 15, 16 years,

and he'd probably been depressed 13 of it.

And it was hard.

It wore on them.

It wore on their kids.

And so I think that's a really good question.

And I think even for the people that are listening, and maybe their spouse is not in a chronic long term, but even short term, because if you've never been

depressed, sometimes it's really hard to understand that, you know, the first time that Nancy went

in depression, you know, I didn't know. I didn't have been around anybody that got depressed like
