So from the resurrection to the ascension, Jesus teaches the apostles and disciples the full Catholic faith.

Imagine spending 40 days with Jesus in his resurrected body from that sea of Galilee all around Israel,

wherever he taught them, the upper room. Imagine being one of the apostles learning the fullness of the Catholic faith in this 40-day

Of course, these apostles are so sad on a day like today when Christ leaves them on earth as he goes to heaven on ascension Thursday today.

Now, of course, in some sense, it's not as hard as the day of Christ's crucifixion

because they were so slow to believe in the resurrection, before the resurrection.

And of course, none of us can actually imagine witnessing a crucifixion.

Of course, they were all missing except John, which was obviously

that crucifixion was imprinted on his heart and his mind forever, as it was our ladies.

But in some sense, it's extremely hard in a different way for the apostles and the disciples

today on Ascension Thursday. Why was it hard on them today? Because they knew Jesus was

leaving them on earth for good. Jesus was leaving them on earth for good. They now know intimately

their best friend, their God, their Savior, Jesus Christ. They fully believe, of course now, by the time we get to Ascension Thursday,

they fully believe in the passion of the resurrection,

but they know now they will not see him on earth until the general judgment,

many thousands of years after they have died as martyrs.

Of course, they will see him in heaven as soon as they are martyrs.

But let's look at this from the point of earth right now.

They will see him again, but never again on earth.

I'm sure you know who else this applies to today, the loss of your son John,

who departed his life's veil at the tender age of 10, unable to sin due to his disability.
