host Thomas Smith. So before I get to the interview that you're about to hear I

think I should explain a few things and talk a little bit about it.

So I've had people of all different stripes of personality and background and all that on this

show but one thing that hasn't been represented too well on my show is

disability so seeking to remedy that my guest today is someone who wrote a book

about being disabled it's called Young, Sick, and Invisible. And here's the thing.

So this interview, I just meant it to be one episode. I was planning on just kind of covering

the basics of the book,

kind of Anya's journey and all that,

and that would be a good episode,

we'd be done, end of story.

Well, we ended up going a little long

and I kept thinking, okay, well well there's stuff I can edit I can

trim here we can do a little bit of longer episode etc well as we went longer

we reached a point where on you called me out on what she viewed as ableist language.

And then we got into quite a debate about that.

So that I feel like was so worthwhile that I'm going to push this to two episodes

because this ended up being an hour and a half I think and plus after that I want to give some commentary about that debate and about everything that we talked about.

So all of this, in my mind, well warrants two episodes, something I wasn't exactly expecting.

So the editing is maybe a little awkward.

What I've decided to do is front load it a bit.
