Today, let's talk about where we are in the process of learning Spanish.

In the first 30 episodes of this podcast, we've covered volume one or lessons one through six in this course.

Accelerated Spanish attempts to give you a clear protocol to follow so that you can build or rebuild your foundations in Spanish from the ground up.

But how do you know that you're really where you need to be right now?

Most students feel one of two ways after finishing volume one.

Either they think, I feel awesome, I know 50% of the Spanish language, and I've mastered most of the grammar

that I need in order to be fluent. Or they think, man, I hope the pace picks up soon. I only really

know a hundred words. How am I supposed to be talking like this? So yes, the first 30 episodes

taught a small amount of vocabulary, but that was for a reason.

We focused mostly on theory and grammar, two elements that are essential to the accelerated process.

Up to this point, we've been trudging through the extremely important fundamentals of syntax,

and working with a limited vocabulary of a hundred words. We've been exclusively focused on making those mechanics second

nature. Here's the good news. Your efforts get rewarded now. By episode 60 and with proper practice, you should reach a basic level of fluency.

But first, here's the reality check. You're going to be tempted to lose direction if you take off

too fast without the proper precautions. If you're confident in your mastery of the content of the first 30 episodes,

these next 30 episodes will move a lot faster. But fluency is not to be taken lightly,

and there are all kinds of ways to lose your footing if you're not careful. So before you

proceed, let's make sure you've reached an appropriate comfort level.
