In a strange and disappointing election year, there is hope in the West.

U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah argues that it's now more important than ever

that Congress sees its constitutional powers back from the executive branch.

Lee and I spoke about the 2016 election, the Electoral College, and the Article One project this weekend in Park City, Utah.

Interesting times, to be sure.

I guess what's, where's your head at right now in terms of this election and trying to

preserve your party's hold on the House and Senate?

My head is where it's always been and where I hope it will always be as long as I'm breathing and

especially as long as I'm in public office I'm going to continue to focus on

restoring what I regard as the twin bulwarks against tyranny.

The twin structural protections of the Constitution, federalism and separation of powers. The former separates

power and divides power along a vertical axis and the other along the horizontal axis.

We have neglected both of those principles over the

last 80 years to our own detriment and it has never been clearer to me than it is right now

that that's exactly where we have to maintain our focus.

So your Article 1 project that a lot of folks from the House and Senate have been working on seems

more important than ever right now?

Yes, absolutely.
