Summary

During the summer of 1793, Genêt continues his efforts to start a war in America against Britain and Spain. Yellow fever decimates Philadelphia, bringing the entire country to a halt. By the end of the year, Genêt's momentum toward war has halted. His recall orders from France finally arrive in America. 1:04.7	His mission was to weaken the enemy coalition against France by forcing them to divert resources to a war in America.
1:07.4	The Washington administration was trying to avoid being dragged into a new war, but it felt powerless,
1:13.4	as Jeney seemed to have popular support in rousing volunteers in the cause of liberty.
1:18.6	Although Jeney had only arrived in April 1793, he already had privateers using American ports
1:24.8	by May and bringing British prizes into American ports.
1:28.3	The British minister in Philadelphia, George Hammond, was flooding the administration with protests and threatening war.
1:36.3	French privateers needed to be barred from U.S. ports and captured British ships returned to their owners.
