Ariana Grande got a ton of criticism when she was cast as the lead or one of the leads for the upcoming musical film, Wicked.

A lot of people couldn't really separate the Arianaane Gras that we knew from the past,

like the pop star Ari, the cool Ari, the Ari that dated Mac Miller for a character, which is kind of

like this very measly, like girly, fairy, like people couldn't really quite picture her as this

character. That's the criticism that she was getting. So in a recent interview, she finally acknowledges how that hit with her and how she feels about it today.

You know, I think, of course, like any human being carrying something about something they care so much about like that, you know, this, it's been a great secret.

You know, they didn't get to see any auditions or know anything.

So, you know, going off of side to see any auditions or know anything. So,

you know, going off of side to side, I probably would have said the same thing. I probably would have said, why the, kill me. I've waited 20 years for this. Kill me. I would have said that.

As a fan from the outside, knowing of only seven rings, probably, I'd say, well, that's

so, you know, I get it. But I think that initially in the beginning, I was like, okay,

I'm going to try to turn that off and just do the work, keep my blinders on and focus and train

and do the best I can. In a way, it's kind of nice that she acknowledged it. But if you don't

know anything about Ariana Grande's history,

like she was a theater kid growing up.

Like she loved musicals and acting in theater plays and actually even spoke about the first

time that she ever saw Wicked.

She actually made a decision for the ending credits to use her old name that she doesn't really

use now.
