Welcome to the beat, I'm Mari Melburg. We are tracking two big developments right now.

The United States is readying for tonight's big debate between Governor Walls and J.D. Vance, the senator,

both the running mates of

course of Trump and Harris. This is the last scheduled debate of the

presidential campaign. It is significant, one of the Democratic stars of

this cycle, Josh Shapiro, the governor of the swing state of Pennsylvania, will join us live on the big debate in a moment.

So that is coming up in a few moments.

The other big story is the top international news in the world, and it's coming out of the

volatile Middle East right now where Iran has attacked Israel today firing

about 180 ballistic missiles at the country. It's an attack that comes

after Israel's strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and amidst what is now an almost year-long Israel-Gaza war. Oh, That is just some of the scene there, the air raid sirens and the skies ablaze.

The 180 Iranian missiles, which israel says would have the power to destroy entire

Buildings and could have killed hundreds if they'd hit any of their top targets were largely

Intercepted our sourcing on that comes from both Israel and the United States, the defense there,

was able to intercept the vast majority of these missiles.

And for that reason at this hour, the reports are that there were no casualties in Israel from these many attempted strikes.

One Palestinian man was killed by Shrapnel on the West Bank, this barrage coming hours after Israel launched its ground incursion into southern Lebanon.

And President Biden and Vice President Harris are overseeing the United States response

from the Situation Room. That is a brand new photograph photograph I should mention that is courtesy of the US government a White House photograph being released from inside the situation room both have now spoken out on Iran's attack.

The attack tears have been defeated and ineffective.

And this is testament to Israeli military capability

and US military.
