Everyone, happy Thursday. Welcome back to the Good Day podcast. I hope you've been having a great week so far. It's been a busy one over here and kind of interesting actually. At quick story time,

0:23.1

we got a rooster for our chickens or to add in to our chickens. We have, I think we have 19

0:31.8

chickens now. We've lost a couple in the last year, unfortunately. So anyway, when we got chickens, we did not get a rooster.

0:39.3

Like, you know, and you just go pick up the chicks from the feed supply store. You don't know if you're

0:44.6

getting roosters or hens or what it's going to be. There's no real way of telling. It's just

0:48.9

kind of luck of the draw, basically. Well, we didn't get any roosters, which is crazy to me because all, like growing up,

0:55.9

we had chickens. I grew up with chickens. My mom was always, she always had chickens and it was so much

1:01.7

fun, which is part of the reason why I wanted to live in the country and have chickens for my kiddos

1:07.0

to experience that and kind of get like a little taste of like farm life like on a very

1:12.2

small scale um but anyway we always ended up with roosters when I was a kid and sometimes like

1:18.0

a couple and you ended up having to like get rid of some or whatever um but with this batch of chickens

1:23.8

that we got we had no rooster and they, like, the hens have been fighting a lot

1:28.3

lately, just like picking at each other. I think, this is my theory. I think they're going crazy from all the wind because I can sympathize with that. I think I'm going crazy from all the wind. We have had this brig. And I think it's making the girls irritable. The hens, they're just, they're picking at each other all

1:44.6

the time. We actually had to buy a little mini coop. This is such a random story, but we had to buy a little

1:50.0

mini coop to keep the ones that we're getting picked on in until they had healed up because chickens

1:55.5

are kind of gross. I'm just being honest with you. They will like pick at each other until like pick it

2:00.8

to death, literally,

2:01.8

like especially once it draws blood.

2:03.7

Oh, it's disgusting.

2:04.8

You probably don't want to hear about this right now.

2:07.4

So I'm sorry for this very randomly story.

2:09.6

But anyway, a lot of people told us that we needed a rooster to keep the hens.
