Today on the podcast, I'm back on a subject that I can't seem to get away from.

Legalism.

I want to address not four different forms of

legalism, as we very recently did. Today, I want to talk more about how the Christian balances what

we call structure and freedom. These terms owe to a number of thinkers. Abraham Kuiper works with them in his

theological program. Structure and freedom refer to the following. God gives us structure in the

Christian life. He sets up the Christian life himself. So we're not self-creating our own Christian journey. God is the one

who has created the world. And as the one who has created the world, God is the one who sets things up

and sets the terms of our faith in terms of New Covenant Christianity. But we don't only live

in structure. We don't only live in the system that God has designed, the world that God has made.

We also have a second principle, and it's very key.

We have freedom.

God does not give us only freedom, just said that, but God does give us genuine freedom.

He gives us the new covenant makes clear.
