Hello, it's three minutes after ten, and here we are again, facing the unfolding confusions and crises of coronavirus.

I've got loads of things I'd like to talk to you about today.

And it is rather hard to know where to start and it occurs to me that in many ways it doesn't

really matter.

We're going to be spending so much time together

in the coming weeks that we will genuinely get around to everything which is sort of an oddly

novel realization isn't it um i am very keen today in the first instance to find out whether or not

you've already lost your job um one of the advantages of social media is that we are,

of course, contactable 24-7 in a sense now, some of us with these public platforms. And some of

the stories I'm hearing, I've got a pal, for example, who is a French polisher in a high-end hotel.

It's a job that you probably didn't even realize existed. But how do you think all the woodwork stays so shiny all year round?

There are generally French polishes on the staff, so they might cover two or three hotels.

And he has just learned that they're being given what has been somewhat euphemistically termed a six-month sabbatical.

But they'll be on 40% pay.

And that, as things stand, makes him one of the lucky ones.

You have probably seen the letter from a hotel in Scotland telling a staff member that not only has he lost his job,

but he will have to vacate his home by close of play today. I heard him being interviewed elsewhere this morning,

and he literally doesn't know where he's going to sleep tonight.

So that would count as being unlucky.

Then you have the very personal situations and circumstance.
