Presidential elections are often treated as the pinnacle of

Democratic engagement in American civic duty.

Historically, voter turnout during presidential election years is about one and a half

times or about 60% of eligible voters, that of midterm election years, which is usually

total only around 40% of eligible voters.

In recent years, voter turnout has reached record highs for both presidential and midterm

election years.

And I suspect that the more that Americans trend towards relying on the government to solve their

problems and provide for their needs while simultaneously

distrusting the other side to do so, well these numbers are just likely to grow even more.
