There is this story that's been floating around, but I think appropriately sums up the

state of the American Israeli relationship right now.

It was reported in Axios back in December.

The story is about a phone call between President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

For months, the two had been getting on the line every couple days to talk about the war

in Gaza until this particular conversation just before Christmas.

In this call, they were discussing Palestinian tax revenues, reportedly.

The back and forth got so heated that Biden disconnected with a Kurt this

conversation is over. Click. I mean we've just learned that the two men didn't

speak for weeks.

Dove Waxman is the chair of Israel Studies at UCLA.

So there's clearly tension in that relationship and it seems that

Nithmiyahu is also busy alienating other leaders as well at the same time.

It doesn't bode well.

Dove says, there are many things for Biden and Netanyahu to disagree about at the moment.

There's the immediate stuff, like Aid to Gaza, or those tax revenues they were arguing

about over the phone.

And then there's bigger stuff, like who should lead the Palestinians when the war ends?

And what should a long-term settlement even look like?

Biden has been dropping hints about what he wants here, a two-state solution, which would mean

creating a sovereign territory for Palestinians.
