Welcome back to the Dershow. Today I want to talk about the heritage and the legacy of

0:07.5

the United States Constitution and how it has endured longer than any constitution in

0:13.8

the history of the world. When I talk about the constitution, I mean to include also the

0:18.4

Bill of Rights in fact. I'm wearing my Bill of Rights tie. I also included in it the

0:25.8

14th Amendment and many of the other amendments, some of which are technical. Many of the others

0:31.3

of which convey rights. The right of women to vote, the right of young people to vote,

0:35.5

the right of people to vote without regard to race or religion. So it's an incredible

0:42.9

innovation that occurred on the shores of the United States in the last part of the 18th

their own personal values, political values, ideological values, racial values, you name it. But they

1:30.0

don't see the constitution as an objective or neutral guardian of liberty for all. It's due

1:37.1

process for me, but not for thee, for speech for me, but not for thee, freedom of religion, for me,

1:41.9

but not for thee. We've seen advocates both on the left and on the right, particularly hard

1:49.0

left and hard right throughout history that have tried to manipulate the constitution. But I've

1:52.7

never seen the court as bad as I see it today, particularly from the woke hard left, people who

1:58.6

you would expect more from. I grew up during McCarthyism, when it was the extreme right that was

2:04.8

trying to abolish the First Amendment and do process and use the mechanisms of the constitution to

2:13.3

promote their ideology. But in the last 10 years or so, perhaps even a little bit more, it's been

2:19.8

the woke hard left that has tried to weaponize the constitution. And so today I want to do what
