Felgar and Mass 985, the sports hub And this is what I would call informed opinion here about what it would take to get Garapolo's deal done. One, rework the current contract that he has. He's due $27 million and $25 million over the next two seasons. That is a heavy, heavy price to pay for someone.

But obviously, when he's played, he's been good, but he hasn't played a lot because of the injuries.

The number has to be acceptable to Garapolo as well.

And one of the things I think that they're looking for on that side of the equation is,

if we're going to make a move here, we don't want to make a move and have to do this all over again next year.

So potentially guaranteed dollars or guarantee more years so that he's not looking for a new home again next spring.

But again, the Patriots invested a lot of time and energy in Garoppolo's development.

And with the roster they built, especially through a free agency, he would be a perfect fit to come right in here, compete with Cam Newton,

and maybe expand that passing off in something they struggled to do a season to go, Baldy.

Meanwhile, the Garoppolo thing feels like it's at a standstill, but Mike Giardy, their NFL network has it right,

that to get any deal done, it starts one with reworking his contract.

It starts with the player accepting the trade, which means he will accept what contract you offer him.

And as our buddy Dale Arnold tweeted last night, his sources say that the Patriots and Grapple have talked contract.

And hashtag, I stand with Dale.
